Principles rooted in Humanism
People who identify as atheist, humanist, agnostic, freethinkers, and other non-theist beliefs attend our congregations or fellowships for these reasons:
- welcome in a community whose principles are based in humanism;
- sources of wisdom, that include reason, to help inspire us;
- community of all ages that's like an extended family;
- belonging to a community that celebrates life;
- children and youth learn acceptance, critical thinking and much more;
- opportunities for involvement in musical programs, social justice, intellectual dialog, creative involvement in a lively community;
- challenged to become a better person;
- community that's working to make the world a better place;
- welcoming many people who have been historically marginalized besides atheists and people who have different beliefs, including different ethnicities and races, GBLT individuals and couples, people with disabilities and more; and/or
- many other reasons
